Privacy Policy Terms
SECTION 1 - WHAT WE DO WITH YOUR INFORMATION
When you purchase from us, we collect the personal information you provide as part of the transaction, such as your name, address, phone, and email address. This information is required to process your order, fulfil delivery, and used for transactional communications.
When you browse our website, we automatically collect your computer internet protocol (IP) address. This allows us to understand general user information such as geographic region and website performance. IP addresses may also be used for security purposes, fraud prevention, analytics, and personalized marketing.
When you subscribe to Email Marketing, SMS, enter a competition, or make a purchase, your provided information, email address, and your permission is recorded. This allows us to send communications about new products and other updates.
SECTION 2 - GETTING YOUR CONSENT
When you provide us with personal information to complete a purchase, verify your payment method, or place an order for delivery or pickup, this is taken as implied consent to collect and use your information for its intended transactional purpose.
When we collect your personal information for a secondary reason, such as marketing, we do so only where you have actively provided it.
WITHDRAWING YOUR CONSENT
You may unsubscribe from Email Marketing at any time via the footer link in our emails or by contacting us at beer@urbanaut.co.nz. Any transactional communications sent are necessary and do not require separate consent under applicable privacy laws.
SECTION 3 - SHOPIFY
Our website is hosted on Shopify Inc. They store your data on a secure server behind a firewall, through Shopify’s data storage, databases and the general Shopify application.
If you choose a direct payment gateway to complete your purchase, then Shopify stores your credit card data. It is encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is deleted.
All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Apple Pay. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.
Refer to Shopify’s Terms of Service and Privacy Statement.
SECTION 4 - DISCLOSURE AND THIRD-PARTY SERVICE
In addition to Shopify, we use other third-party providers, such as Klaviyo, MailChimp, Meta, and Google, to provide marketing communications and analytics. These providers will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third-parties. Your data is shared only with trusted service providers who assist us in operating our business, and only to the extent necessary for those services to function.
Certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.
For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies to understand how your personal information will be handled. Providers may be based in, or have facilities located in, different jurisdictions. If you elect to proceed with a transaction with them, your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which they operate.
Once you leave our website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Service. This includes any external links that direct you away from our website. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites and encourage you to read their privacy statements.
We may disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so, or if you violate our Terms of Service.
SECTION 5 – SECURITY
To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed. We do not store your credit card or payment information. If you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and stored with a AES-256 encryption. Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.
SECTION 6 - COOKIES
We use cookies on our website to track your session activity, login status, shopping cart, and store your preferences for future visits. Cookies are sent from our web servers to your browser and do not contain any personally identifiable information. The aggregate data, such as website traffic, is used to improve the functionality and overall experience of our website.
By continuing to use our website, you agree to the use of cookies as described in this policy. You may manage or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time, although some website features, such as login and online shopping, may not function properly if cookies are disabled.
SECTION 7 - AGE OF CONSENT
By using our website, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. If you are under 18, you are not permitted to access or use this website. We do not knowingly sell products or provide service to individuals under the age of 18.
SECTION 8 - CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will provide you with reasonable notice here and/or email. By continuing to engage with us after any such notice period, you will be deemed to have accepted the updated version of this statement.
If our business is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred to the new owners, who may continue to use it for the same purposes described in this policy.
SECTION 9 – PERSONAL INFORMATION
In accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to request access to the information we hold that can be used to personally identify you. You will be required to verify your identity as part of this request. We may decline your request if it unreasonably impacts the privacy of others, or breaches legal professional privilege.
If you believe that your personal information is incorrect, incomplete or inaccurate, you may request an amendment. You may also request the deletion of your personal information or withdraw your consent to its use, subject to legal and operational limitations.
For all requests or privacy concerns, email beer@urbanaut.co.nz. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with our obligations under the Privacy Act 2020.
